The 2009 L’Aquila Earthquake
In the early hours of April 6, 2009, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck L’Aquila and the surrounding Abruzzo region of central Italy. The disaster killed 309 people, injured over 1,600, and left more than 65,000 people homeless, shattering historic communities and prompting national soul-searching about risk, responsibility, and resilience. The Lillelid Murders
In April 1997, a young family was brutally attacked and three members killed during a carjacking and abduction by six Kentucky youths in rural Tennessee.
